Stan Charles

Born into a family of musicians, Stan Charles has music in his blood.  He’s been playing and performing piano, guitar and drums since he was a young child. He went on to study at Cal State Long Beach, earning his degree in Music and Communications while also performing with several bands in the LA area.

After graduating, Stan Charles came to the Sierras and formed the band "Truckee Tribe" as lead guitar and lead vocals.  Truckee Tribe quickly became a local favorite, and has toured and performed with bands including The Whalers, Reel Big Fish, Eek-a-mouse, and Tosh meets Marley. He has also performed live with members of Neil Young's Crazy Horse, Long Beach Dub Allstars (formerly Sublime), and more.

As a songwriter, producer, and engineer, Stan has written and recorded over 50 songs, often times playing every instrument. Stan's work has been showcased at London Contemporary Dance School, CrisisArt Festival in Italy, and Maligrad Contemporary Dance in San Francisco.

Stan has been teaching music for decades. His mission is to help students cultivate a lifelong love of music and learning.

A father himself, Stan is wonderful with children and has a gift for reaching musicians of all ages. He is known and respected for his personable, fun and creative approach to teaching. He provides a warm and positive learning environment, and offers students the ability to learn and experiment with any type of guitar, a selection of drums and percussions, and piano. During lessons, while students are learning their instrument of choice, Stan will often pick up a different instrument and jam with them, giving them the feeling they are playing with a band.  Additionally, he has all the skills to record students and send digital files of their work.
