Evan Laboissonniere
Evan was born and raised in Rhode Island. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1991 with a Bachelor of Music in performance and education. At URI he studied classical percussion and jazz drumming. Evan was an international recording artist with: Capitol Records, Midnight Records, New Rose Records and J Bird Records while playing with Plan 9 from 1983-1986 and 1991-1993. As a major part of that era’s “paisley underground”, Plan 9 was a national touring headliner who performed with many of the upcoming independent bands such as Soul Asylum, Camper Van Beethoven, The Smithereens, Husker Du, etc. Evan and Plan 9 were inducted into the RI Music Hall of Fame in 2017. He was a founding member of 90’s regional touring band Max Damian, an acid jazz, funk, rockin’ ska band that self-produced two records. In 1998, Evan moved to Atlanta GA to play with Brighter Shade, John Driskoll Hopkins’ (Zac Brown Band) original band. Evan moved to Tahoe in 1999 and currently performs with Indigo Grey-jazz quartet, The Sugar Pines, and is an on-call drummer for various musical projects.
